It just gets better when you consider the life cycle of fuel from production to consumption. For every unit of energy input, ordinary biodiesel returns at least 3.2 units of energy. This is the highest energy balance ratio of any alternative fuel prior to the introduction of our renewable diesel. If recycled oils are used - as we do - the energy balance ratio is even higher, because the basic resource has already been used at least once, many production and refinement costs have been borne, and transportation is generally local. Finally, our manufacturing process is cleaner and more efficient than traditional transesterification, which uses petroleum-derived methanol and other harsh chemicals. This all means our renewable diesel helps maintain a cleaner environment.
